International Year One in Computer and Data Science

Overview

Designed in conjunction with The University of Western Australia (UWA) to prepare students for entry to Year 2 of UWA undergraduate degrees relating to computer science, cybersecurity and data science.

Key information

  • UWA's Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering has industry partnerships with leading software and computing companies including IBM Australia, Main Roads WA and Immersive Technologies.
  • UWA's Computer Science major is professionally accredited by the Australian Computer Society, demonstrating to employers that UWA graduates have the knowledge and skills required to become an ICT professional.
  • Science, engineering and maths students will study at EZONE, UWA's world-class tech hub. EZONE is designed for collaborative learning and industry interaction.
  • UWA College students can choose to progress to one of three degree majors in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or Data Science.
  • UWA College's Diploma in Computer and Data Science core and elective units provide a broad overview of computing and data science, before students specialize in their major.
  • This course provides students with the study skills and academic knowledge needed to study computing and data-related subjects in the second year at UWA.
  • UWA College offers a range of teaching methods to help students adapt to studying in Australia.
  • Units in 'Academic Conduct Essentials' and 'Indigenous Studies Essentials' prepare students for study at UWA.
  • Students who pass the program will be awarded the Diploma in Computer and Data Science with 48 transferable credits to UWA.
  • Units are based on existing UWA level 1 units, providing the best preparation for entry to the second year of study at UWA.
