Art and Design

Key information

  • The Art and Design course continues directly to degrees at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (DJCAD). DJCAD has a world renowned reputation for high-class teaching and research, offering a range of undergraduate courses across 11 disciplines. Students will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and a worldclass team of artists and thinkers to help them develop their creative talent and critical thinking skills.
  • During this foundation program, you will study modules designed to both increase your awareness of key concepts in art and design theory, and encourage you to expand your creative skills through studio practice. You will also study the foundations of psychology, expanding your awareness of human behaviour to inform your creative work in the future.
  • As part of the foundation, you will be a student at the University of Dundee straight away. You will study on the same campus and use the same services and accommodation as other University students. The on-campus International College setting is close to University accommodation. In addition, you will receive special support from the ICD team, helping you settle into your new life in Scotland.
  • Classes are small and taught by experienced teaching staff with many years of experience. This means that you will receive individual attention and support from your tutors as you focus on improving your academic skills. In addition to the English modules you will be taking as part of this course to ensure you reach the required English level, you can also make use of the free English language support offered by the University after you finish at the College.
  • This program is available as a joint-CAS program meaning you will receive a single visa for the entirety -- 4 years -- of your program giving you greater freedom for work, remove the need for multiple healthcare fees, and other opportunities from the first year. Typical foundation programs in the UK require separate visas for different program levels.
