Students are pre-nursing majors while in the Pathway program and their second year of study. They matriculate to nursing majors assuming the requirements are met by the end of Year 2.

Minimum 3.0 cumulative UAB GPA. Minimum 3.2 GPA in Pre Nursing courses. 80% Minimum in all required ELI courses. B or Better in all courses. No Grades of I (incomplete) or W (withdrawn) permitted.

Notes

After completing the first tour years of "pre-nursing" curriculum successfully, students apply for admission to the School of Nursing for the upper-division nursing curriculum.

For application to the School of Nursing, a student must at a minimum have an overall GPA of 2.75, however students with a 3.2 GPA or above in all pre-nursing courses are guaranteed admission to the BSN. Students that have lower than a 2.75 GPA may apply for other health-related majors.

Once accepted into the upper division as a nursing student (approximately sixty semester credit hours), the program is typically five continuous semesters long. This includes summer session
